In 2015, our HotMessHerd was growing by what seemed like leaps and bounds. We had expanded the Herd from a man defense to a crushing zone defense (for all of you basketball lovers…you get it!). Our youngest son, entered this world making an 11 pound statement. He was (and is still) the squishiest, lovingest, just want to pinch his little cheeks because he’s just so precious little fella. When he was about a year old, he began breaking out in hives. We started the elimination diet to no avail…had allergy testing done…everything that was tested, he was negative at the time. The Pediatrician said “it’s allergies”, the Allergist said “it’s not allergies, its viral” and here we were stuck in the middle with a child that without notice, his eyes would swell shut and he would break out in head to toe hives. He was on so many medicines to try and treat the symptoms that my head started to spin.
We were at our wits end and just wanted answers. I reached out to a friend who has a background in the medical field, who is also a Mom to multiple children. We needed a sounding board that wasn’t two bickering doctors. Her daughter had eczema/super dry skin and our little guy toward the end of a flare up would have extremely dry skin. So, after a long chat and about 100 pubmed.com articles, we bought a kit because at that point I was willing to try absolutely anything!
Young Living is where we decided to purchase from because they are so adamant about their seed to seal guarantee. I had used vitamin store grade oils before and found it strange that many were branded as “all natural” but they didn’t recommend contact with the skin…..this perplexed me because this oil in particular I was buying for my skin. When I got my kit I knew immediately that I had been duped in the vitamin shop and immediately threw that imposter in the trash!
Since our kit purchase, we quickly became believers…..we began ditching and switching toxic items around our home. Our little ones skin cleared up, he hasn’t had another flair up and I haven’t had to worry about giving my baby meds that would make him sleep nearly all day! (which was terrifying for this “experienced” Mom)
